Functional + Lifestyle Medicine is Creating Positive Change For the Health Care Expenditure

In 2018, the national health expenditure reached around $3.6 trillion dollars.  By 2027, the expenditure is expected to reach $6 trillion.

This number would be easier to swallow if we were seeing the ‘fruit’ of these dollars – reduced cancer, reduced chronic illness, reduced preventable deaths.  But the truth is quite the opposite.  The total estimated costs associated with diabetes (in 2012) was around $245 billion.  Obesity (in 2008) - $147 billion.  Heart disease and stroke (in 2010) - $315 billion.

These dollars are not being allocated for your wellness.  In fact, many are profiting off of your illness.

A functional +lifestyle medicine approach addresses illness differently.  We focus on the root of underlying illness.  While we honor and appreciate the various approaches to healing, we understand that arsenals of expensive prescription drugs and surgeries often fail to treat the fundamental cause of illness.  Missing the mark, increasing costs, and insufficiently addressing the problem.

Rather than adding to the exorbitant costs referenced above, our focus is our clients, their health, and financial stewardship.  We want to see our clients thrive, helping them achieve the health they desire.  In doing this, we have the opportunity to directly reduce the expenditure and improve health outcomes.  Win – Win.

In fact, many functional + lifestyle medicine practices, like ours, take this one step further.  Cash-pay practices are a proven solution to mismanaged dollars.  Studies show that when consumers adopt a high-deductible plan with an HSA/FSA/HMA option, their overall health care expenditure is a fraction of conventional plans – allowing the consumer to prioritize and choose how their hard-earned health care dollars are spent.

What’s more, care offered in cash-pay practices are not influenced by insurance plans and unhealthy, highly monetize/politicized agendas.  Rather, we get to spend time with our clients, serving them with intention and practiced hands.  Being free of this structure affords us the opportunity to create lasting and impactful change for those we serve.

Friends, our healthcare system is in crisis.  We are excited to be a part of the solution.  Join us?
